The excitement flowed through Kino’s body, sending chills up his spine, as his heart pounded in his chest, so much that he thought it would explode. His steps quickened as he turned off the main road onto that old familiar dirt trail. Like a little boy, the 45 year old almost skipped along, as fond memories came flooding – his parents, his wife Annette, his friends – all so near. And when he thought the feeling was too much to bear, just when he thought he was going to explode, something caught his eyes. A few feet ahead, the dirt track was no more, tall shrubs and grass now replaced the well-lit path to his community. His heart stopped. The place was dark, He paused and asked, “Where am I? Kaluga Kafé Hosts Treat for Over 40 Old Harbour Kids

Kaluga Kafé feted boys from Sunbeam Children’s Home, and youngsters from the Spring Village Youth Development Programme, as part of their first anniversary celebrations. The youngsters were elated at the evening out at the casual diner and “chill spot” which has brought a new buzz to Old Harbour. Adrian Samuda, Managing Director, Kaluga Kafé expressed satisfaction at the evening’s events. “I’m thrilled to see the smiles on the children’s faces and how happy they are by just being here. It feels good to speak with them and impress upon them their power to take charge of their destiny, and make a positive difference for themselves, their families and their country,” he said. Samuda committed to providing a traditional Sunday dinner for the Sunbeam Children’s Home, once per month, from May to December, a move lauded by Desmond Whitely, Superintendent, of the Home. “We are grateful to Kaluga for extending this treat to the boys for the rest of the year,” Whitely said. “Part

The Best Dressed Chicken has recruited four of Jamaica’s leading chefs to serve up delicious gourmet selections this evening at the Jamaica Observer Food Awards. The quartet of accomplished chefs Ravi Anne, Group Executive Chef, Jewels Resorts; Michael Dannecker, Executive Chef, Hilton Rose Hall and Spa; Stephen Sowa, Executive Chef, Half Moon; and Daniel Schweizer, Executive Chef, Goddard Catering Group, may compete on the occasional basis, but this time around they have joined forces to craft a one-of-a-kind Culinary Destination for patrons at the highly anticipated Food Awards. Joining them will be Artemio Lopez, Chef de Cuisine from Cayman’s award-winning The Brasserie which won Best Restaurant, Best Farm to Table and Best Place for Lunch at last year’s Table Talk Food Awards – Cayman Edition. Chef Lopez’s passion is the farm-to-table concept and cooking with local produce and meat, one which he plans to utilize on his sojourn in Jamaica, at the Food Awards.
