Intensive Care Unit of the UHWI to benefit from this year’s funds
Kingston, October 16, 2014 –Jamaica by Bike organisers are gearing up for the annual Heroes Weekend Charity Ride on October 18, with high enthusiasm and hopes of doing a record donation for the Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
Registration is in full force as the riders prepare for the 158 mile ride, and the donation at the end of the journey, the culmination which makes it all worthwhile. “We have been working assiduously getting the details together, so everyone is rearing to go for Saturday,” said Martin Fong Kong of Jamaica by Bike. “It takes a lot of courage to stay committed to the cause yearly, but our riders are passionate because we can see the positive effects our contribution have on the health care system in Jamaica,” he said.
Fong Kong adds that in the years of operation, the Charity Ride has contributed significantly to its two beneficiaries, the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre, and the Intensive Care Unit of the UHWI, institutions that have made remarkable contributions to the treatment of Jamaicans with critical conditions.
“We are eternally grateful for our sponsors over the years as they have made a significant contribution to making our donations more impactful.
