PRESENTS $750,000 IN DONATIONS & PROMISES EXCITING ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGES FOR 6th STAGING
More entertainment,
medals, prizes, and surprises - The Best Dressed Chicken Everyone’s a Winner
Race Series promises to raise the bar with a revamped programme this year, and complementing
the upgrade is $750,000 in donations to three national institutions.
At the press
launch, the Best Dressed Chicken made cheque presentations of JM$250,000
to the Diabetes Association of Jamaica
– one of the company’s main charities – the Heart Foundation of Jamaica, and
the University Hospital of the West Indies – The Neurology Department.
“Your fitness
choices today will determine your health tomorrow. The investment we are making
in Jamaica will help to ensure that people become more aware that they can
choose to lead a healthy lifestyle, and we are humbled to be a part of this journey
to guide the country on a positive note,” said.
The 6th
staging of The Best Dressed Chicken Everyone’s a Winner Race Series have been
condensed to two main Sunday events - on April 10, and Father’s Day, June 19 -
and will align resources to provide a comprehensive, exciting and engaging
experience for participants. Both races will be held at the Hope Botanical
Gardens, and the first will feature an 8k run; 5k run, walk and stroller
categories; and the June 19 event will move a notch higher, with the
introduction of a 9k run, accompanied by the usual 5k run, walk and stroller
races.
“Our
participants have stressed the importance of variety and the need for an event
that challenges their limit, our adjustments will cater to this request, however,
we have retained the elements that people have grown to love, so everyone will
feel fulfilled,” said Kemble.
Under the
revamped series, the first 2000 participants in each race will receive a medal,
plus all categories will have awards for the top performers. “We believe
everyone who participates is a winner, so we took the idea a step further by providing these additional tokens which will give
everyone with a feeling of accomplishment and pride for showing support,” noted Kemble on the rationale
for the change.
The races will feature
more runner care, refreshments, entertainment and giveaways, and fun. Also in
the mix, is a focus on overall well-being as the Heart Foundation of Jamaica
will be conducting blood pressure and basic health checks. Kemble adds that both
races will have food stations, and special menus to cater to participants who
are diabetic. “We are happy to be leading the charge for Everyone’s A Winner
Race series, and we look forward to serving all after they cross the finish
line,” said Kemble.
